Srinagar, Dec 15 (KNO): The first round of the 139th meeting of the Building Operations Controlling Authority (BOCA) of the Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (JKLCMA) was convened here under the chairmanship of Vice-Chairman Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, along with other senior officials. According to the details available with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) the meeting marked part-one of the proceedings. Sources said that the officials took up a fresh set of construction permission cases for review and clearance. “The sitting marked the first round of discussions, while the second round of the 139th BOCA meeting will decide on the remaining cases and other important designs,” sources added. Pertinently, the BOCA has met only twice in 2025 so far, on April 12 (137th meeting) and August 2 (138th meeting), making this its third session of the year, compared to more frequent meetings in previous years. Moreover, the meeting comes a month after residents had accused the LCMA of “stalling” construction permissions and creating unnecessary delays in granting approvals. As reported earlier by KNO, several residents from the Nishat and adjoining areas had claimed that their files had been pending for months despite submission of all required documents. Sources said that Saturday’s meeting focused on clearing genuine residential and commercial permission cases in line with prescribed norms. Meanwhile, an official from the department said efforts are being put to expedite decisions on pending applications while maintaining transparency and environmental compliance—(KNO)
